What Our Learners Say

#opened my eyes | #go at your own pace | #work life balance | #build a foundation | #in-depth education

This training has built on dermatology knowledge I gained in PA school and made me feel I have a stronger knowledge base in regards to dermatology conditions and treatments.
Mackenzie K.
Physician Associate
Having very little derm training outside a brief section in PA school, the Derm Fundamentals Program filled that gap and gave me more confidence in my dermatology identification and patient dialogue.
Sara E.
Physician Associate
Since I am transitioning from a family practice PA to a dermatology PA, this course has helped me to expand my current knowledge base, by allowing me to have a broader differential and a more specific treatment plan once I have identified the concern.
Mayra T.
Physician Associate
APP Derm Fundamentals gave me a good basis to start with and feel less overwhelmed. I would say this training will provide a great starting point and foundational knowledge to ones future derm career.
Karla Y.
Nurse Practitioner
I have gained confidence in the basics and have been able to build a good foundation throughout all three Dermwise training programs. Being able to break things down into the Dermwise Power Categories which I had not done previously has been helpful. I also like how in depth the programs go with pathophysiology, as that help better understand the disease processes.
OlA A.
Physician Associate
This program is AWESOME!
I found it very helpful. All dermatology advanced practice providers would benefit from this training program.
Callie D.
Physician Associate
Dermwise (APP Fundamentals) really opened up my eyes to all of the other potential diagnosis and things of that nature. I got a much more in depth look at dermatology, I also really enjoyed the program because it’s go-at-your-own-pace. That made it easier to fit the training in with my work and life.
Carrie D.
Nurse Practioner
As I did not have a fellowship after PA school, it was helpful to know what one would expect such a provider to know. At this point in my career, I liked that some of the rarer conditions were presented to think about things I would see less often or maybe once in my career. I found this material to be a great overview and interesting.
Stacey N.
Physician Associate
The PA I supervised while training with Dermwise finished the program feeling more confident. It helped jump start her dermatology knowledge. I highly recommend this training.

This will help tremendously with identifying and diagnosing and treating dermatologic conditions. It does so with many examples and great pictures. It helped make me more confident with my diagnosis as well as description of lesions. I would definitely recommend this course.”
Katherine L.
Family Practice Resident
Doing the program online was ideal for me because I have two kids and don’t travel much. I accessed the program both at home and at work. So if I had the time, like if I had an hour break at work, I would listen to the video while I was doing other things and then take the test.
Sara M.
Physician Associate
Before starting the training, I never felt like I had a solid foundation of the basics of dermatology and this program has given it to me. With proper knowledge of the building blocks of the discipline, I know I will be able to become an expert in the field. The program helped me understand skin diseases from the aspect of a dermatologist.”

"I’m new to dermatology so it helped to lay down that foundation...

and it helped me remember certain things and the pictures were really helpful. This course is really informative and it really helped me nail down different dermatology diagnosis that are commonly seen in the office. [Derm Fundamentals] helps in identifying them, knowing how to categorize them, treat them, and how to educate and further explain to patients what they have, how it’s treated, and long term prognosis. I really liked how it was broken down into the different categories of dermatology. I really found it helpful how everything was organized and categorized. It helped to put all the diseases process in one box and then narrow it down from there.
Stacey N.
Physician Associate

"I liked that it systematically went through all the important topics for a new provider in dermatology...

As I did not have a fellowship after PA school, it was helpful to know what one would expect such a provider to know. Even though I am 4 years into my practice now, I wanted to complete the course to see if there were any gaps I needed to fill in. At this point in my career, I liked that some of the rarer conditions were presented to think about things I would see less often or maybe once in my career. I found this material to be a great overview and interesting. I liked the accountability of having to take quizzes to move on."

"I highly recommend the program to other Nurse Practitioners...

(APP Derm Fundamentals) was more in-depth than I thought and I learned a lot from the program. It was a challenging program, but I learned a lot from it. Now that I’ve completed Dermwise, I can describe and help explain to patients what things are a lot better. [APP Derm Fundamentals] is very detailed and organized. I really liked it. I thought it was a great program and that’s why I recommended it to another nurse practitioner that I work with, and she would really like to do it too."
Leah L.
Physician Associate

"For (APPs) who are new to the field of dermatology, I think the program is very worthwhile...

I was just 8 or 9 months into it (dermatology practice) when I started the program, I had been doing reading and having trouble compartmentalizing and fine tuning differential diagnosis. After the course (APP Derm Fundamentals) I’ve had people come in and ask me about a rash or a spot even though they were there for something else and I was able to create a good differential because I was able to put it into the proper (power) category. I was able to ask my patient more concise questions. The training from the program was helpful (in clinic), It’s great because it’s spread out and sometimes I feel like when you try to jam everything into a weekend, it’s easy to forget things and harder to retain everything you learned. Dermwise reinforces what you learned over and over again."
Molly C.
Nurse Practioner

"The program was awesome for someone brand new to derm...

I learned a ton and liked how it was organized, especially the way we describe things and communicate. The pace was good, and the lecture time was appropriate, keeping my interest. The pictures were helpful since dermatology is so visual. It was much more involved and comprehensive than anything else I've done online. The self-paced format was great for me. Dermwise has helped me describe things correctly, use appropriate terminology, and categorize diagnoses, improving my general knowledge of different diseases."
Piper E.
Physician Associate

"I was impressed with the program...

There are NOT many programs that, as a physician associate, have much structure, so to be able to have learning be so organized and be able to review it was very helpful. I felt like it did a great job of explaining how to arrive at a diagnosis and how to categorize certain diagnosis. I really like that I was able to do it at my own pace. Some of the lectures get in a little bit more details than what you would get if you were to go to a dermatology conference so, I think it’s a really good comprehensive review for someone who has either just started in dermatology or somebody that has been in it and just needs a refresher and just needs to cover a review of the information. (Dermwise Courses) would make you a better candidate by being able to give a more educated explanation about the processes and how you arrive at a diagnosis for a patient."
